And by the way, did you know that Alfred Nobel’s less-famous brother Ludvig was instrumental in the development of oil tankers in the 1870s? His Zoroaster, built in 1878, is widely considered the first such vessel to be commercially successful, and its design was studied and replicated. In keeping with the magnanimous Nobel brand, Ludvig refused to patent any part of it.
