And by the way, did you know that Turkey in 2022 asked that the international community start referring to it as Türkiye?

The hope behind the request was that the proud inheritor of the Byzantine empire could escape its associations with a pretty derpy American bird. Alas, the change hasn’t really caught on—although the U.S. State Department lists the country as “Turkey (Türkiye).”
